About this report
This is Tropicalia’s 12th Sustainability Report, which covers the period from January 1 to December 31, 2022; it includes activities of everything that falls within the Tropicalia master-planned development, Fundación Tropicalia and the communities impacted by its operations, generally Miches and its municipal districts.
This is a GRI referenced report and uses the standards of the Global Reporting Initiative to support reporting efforts. In addition to GRI disclosures, Tropicalia also applies the most widely used frameworks around the world. Through the United Nations Global Compact Principles, the Sustainable Development Goals and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Performance Standards, Tropicalia is able to align the project’s corporate goals with the global sustainable development agenda.
Materiality Analysis
Tropicalia conducted a materiality analysis, which arises from the environmental and social review conducted by IDB Invest, for the classification and subsequent approval of Tropicalia‘s financing, and the Performance Standards of the International Finance Corporation (IFC). According to the analysis performed, and based on the phase of the Project, the material topics are:
- Community health and safety.
- Environmental impacts.
- Biodiversity and natural habitat conservation.
- Efficient Use of Natural Resources and Pollution Prevention.
- Labor and working conditions.
- Supplier Management.
- Human Rights.
- Local Development.
